Today, the Equal Districts Coalition — a group of over 30 Ohio advocacy organizations and labor unions engaged in the redistricting process — released the following statement in advance of Ohio's next congressional map deadline, which the Republican-led Redistricting Commission is expected to ignore:
“More than a year into Ohio’s redistricting process, we are again faced with the reality that the Republican mappers care about nothing other than preserving their grip on political power — even if that means forcing Ohioans to vote under illegally rigged maps.
"These Republican politicians are again ignoring orders from a bipartisan majority on the state’s highest court to obey the constitution and adopt fair maps.
"Ten of Ohio's top Republican officials have repeatedly violated state law without consequences. These lawbreakers do not deserve to hold elected office."
