Timeline of Ohio’s Gerrymandered Maps:

The Brennan Center For Justice provided a detailed timeline of how Ohio politicians defied court orders to manipulative legislative districts. See below.

Ohio Citizens Redistricting Commission-submitted maps from 2021:

In 2021, the OCRC came together as an independent, nonpartisan commission made up of 15 volunteers to model what a fair redistricting process looks like and to develop maps that are representative of the state's voters and reflective of its communities. The commission operated outside of the official politician-run process, hosted public hearings across the state to hear directly from Ohioans about what they wanted to see in new maps, and created maps to respond to that public input.

The congressional map drawn by the OCRC provides 8 Republican-leaning seats and 7-Democratic leaning seats that include competitive districts to reflect the more purple parts of our state. This map reflects the partisan nature of Ohio and lives up to both the letter and spirit of the 2018 congressional constitutional reform measure that requires fair maps. This year, the Equal Districts coalition will be re-submitting the OCRC 8R-7D congressional map as a proposal to the politicians in charge of the 2025 redraw process.
